The Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium is one of the latest cricket grounds in India used for domestic and international matches having hosted their first ever international in October 2024.
This ground replaced the old stadium in Gwalior by the name of Captain Roop Singh Stadium at which Sachin Tendulkar had become the first-ever male cricketer to hit a 200 in an ODI (against South Africa in 2010).
The SM Scindia Cricket Stadium belongs to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and after it’s completely made, it will have a capacity of 50,000. Currently, it can house 30,000 people.
The ground is expected to have about nine cricket pitches on which international and domestic matches can be played to go with practice ground and practice facilities.

Gwalior doesn’t have an IPL team but there could be other teams in the vicinity who could use the SM Scindia Cricket Stadium to host Indian Premier League matches over the years.

Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium Gwalior International Match Tickets
The first-ever international match hosted at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior saw India hosting Bangladesh in the first of three T20Is of that series.
India won it easily after restricting Bangladesh to 127 and then getting to the target with 49 balls to spare. Arshdeep Singh was declared the man of the match.

How do you get to Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior by bus, metro, or train?
The SM Scindia Cricket Stadium is located at Shankargarh, Magnet City in Gwalior West and can be accessed through the Mumbai-Agra Highway. Its exact address is as follows:
Address: Madhavrao Sindhiya Cricket Ground, near Bal Bhawan, Race Course, Sadar, Rajkot, Gujarat 360001, India
This stadium is located on the outskirts of the city of Gwalior, about 8 km from the city, and because of security reasons, fans have to walk a fair distance from their last vehicular stop to get to the stadium (by some estimates, people had to walk nearly five km to get to their seats in the Bangladesh T20I in 2024).
If you are flying in from outside the city, the stadium is about 25 km away from the airport and you will need to take a cab to reach the place.
The better option is to take a train to the Gwalior Junction Railway Station and then commute to the stadium which is about 11 km away. The Gwalior bus stand is also 11 km from the cricket stadium.
