What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
West Indies
This is the fourth series that West Indies have been involved in this year.
In the three before this, they drew with Australia early 2024 away from home in what was a stunning result, then lost 3-0 in England before going down 0-1 to South Africa at home.
Since defeating Bangladesh in June 2022, West Indies had won a mere two Tests – one against Zimbabwe and then against Australia earlier this year. Which is why a win in the first Test against Bangladesh would have been a bit of a relief for the home side.
And as a result of that victory, West Indies have moved up one spot on WTC points table and they now have 26.67% points to their name.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh were on a four-match losing streak coming into this series, having lost to India and South Africa 2-0. Which was strange given they were coming off a 2-0 victory in Pakistan in what was a stunning result against a team that has done well over time.
An easy loss in the opening game here means they have now lost five in a row.
Over the last 10 Tests, Bangladesh have won just two.
Bangladesh were just a spot ahead of West Indies on the WTC points table before the start of this series but have now jumped back down to 10th and last with just 25% points.

West Indies vs Bangladesh 2nd Test Preview & Predictions with Latest Odds*
West Indies were all over Bangladesh in the opening Test, eventually winning it by 201 runs on a surface which played slower than what the home team would have liked.
A Justin Greaves century helped West Indies pile up 450/9 in their first innings and it was due credit to their bowlers that they managed to bowl Bangladesh out for 269 in response by the end of the third day.
Greaves picked up a couple of wickets too after Alzarri Joseph had broken the Bangladesh batting back with a three-fer.
The home team then lasted a mere 46.1 overs in their second innings but a target of 334 was never going to be a straightforward one. This time around Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales combined to sent Bangladesh packing for 132.
As has been the case all year, Bangladesh have continued to struggle with the bat in their hands and that’s where they need to find improvements. West Indies know they have the opposition on the mat and another concerted effort on a slightly pacier pitch in Jamaica could spell doom for Bangladesh.
