What Have The Two Teams Done So Far?
Both Netherlands and South Africa have played one game in their Group D and won that opener.
While South Africa scraped past Sri Lanka in a chase of 77, struggling to score on a very difficult pitch at this very venue, Netherlands overcame Nepal in Dallas as they went past their opponent’s 106 in the 19th over.

These two teams have an interesting history having faced off in the last two ICC events and South Africa having fallen to defeats (check the head to head section below).
This time around, however, South Africa look like they have a way higher quality of personnel to exploit these conditions.
For starters, their batters can hit the big one but at the same time are experienced enough in difficult conditions having played a lot of their first-class cricket on such pitches back home.
Then comes their bowling attack which was on full display in their opener. Sri Lanka might not be the best T20 team going around in the world but Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and co. would be tough to face in difficult conditions for most teams.
Netherlands’ performances are based on exhibiting a united front led by the experience of Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede and that was on show against Nepal.
Four of the five bowlers got into the wicket-taking tally in that game with at least two for each of them. The fifth, Vivian Kingma finished with figures of 0/23 from his four.
In the chase, Netherlands had the presence of Max O’Dowd who batted through the innings for his half-century but this is not to say the likes of de Leede and Scott Edwards cannot take up the gauntlet when needed.
In fact it was captain Edwards whose innings of 78 in the last World Cup that had helped Netherlands trump South Africa. Will we see a repeat of that?
