There is a new tournament in the making and it’s the Sri Lanka T10 competition that will be organised and hosted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). More details on the name of this tournament and other things around it are still awaited but we will be there to update that as soon as possible as usual!
What is the new Sri Lanka T10 tournament called?
We are awaiting information from the Sri Lankan Cricket Board to understand what this new SLC-organised T10 competition will be branded as.
When will the Sri Lanka T10 tournament be played?
According to reports, this newly-formed Sri Lankan T10 competition will be held in December 2023 for the first time. All games will be played in Colombo. The tentative dates for this are between December 12 and 23 but as has been the case in the past, this could change. So watch out this space for more information about the same.
What will be the format of the SL T10 tournament?
There will be six, franchise-based teams featuring in the first-ever edition of this competition. Each side will face off against the other five in a round-robin format but it’s still to be understood if this will be a one-leg or a two-leg competition.
At the end of the league stage of the tournament, the top four sides will qualify for the playoffs which will culminate into the final to be purportedly held on December 23, 2023.

We are awaiting the details of the SL T10 schedule but what’s known for now is that it will be played between December 12 and 23.

The Lanka T10 player auction will be conducted on November 10 2023. More information on this is still awaited.
Who is organising this tournament?
The Lanka T10 will be run by SLC who have gotten into an equation with T Ten Sports Management group. The T Ten Sports Management group are also in charge of the Abu Dhabi T10 and the Zim-Afro T10 tournaments along with the US Master T10.
What else do we know about this competition?
There is a possibility that other than the men’s tournament, SLC could also organise a women’s T10 tournament that runs parallel to this. We will have to await an announcement about this.
Sri Lanka also host the Lanka Premier League, a six-team T20 tournament that was last played in August 2023.
