Mumbai Indians Auction Activity for IPL 2024
Even before the auction, the big news coming from the Mumbai Indians camp was the trade of Hardik Pandya into the side of Gujarat Titans. He was announced as the captain of the Mumbai side, taking over from Rohit Sharma on December 15.
During the IPL 2024 auction, the Mumbai Indians weren’t seen raising the paddle too much as they avoided getting into too many bidding wars. When they did though, they invariably made sure they won the player over.
Their biggest buy for the season for South African seamer Gerald Coetzee, whom they got in for INR 5 crore. Coetzee can wield the willow as well and his aggressive fast bowling should help the side no end.
Sri Lankan left-arm seamer Dilshan Madhushanka, who had dismissed Rohit Sharma out early in the 2023 World Cup, has also been picked up for a good price of INR 4.6 crore while Nuwan Thushara, another slinger Sri Lankan bowler was brought in for INR 4.8 crore.
Some of the other purchases included Mohammad Nabi, the Afghan all-rounder who will get INR 1.5 crore for his services and Shreyas Gopal, whose leggies will cost the Mumbai Indians just INR 20 lakh.
Kieron Pollard, who retired from the IPL last year, will remain with the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 as the batting coach.
He played for Mumbai Indians for 13 seasons and won the IPL five times and the Champions League T20 twice. IPL 2024 MI player list is placed above.

What Happened in IPL 2023?
Mumbai Indians had struggled in the 2022 edition of the tournament and started this year’s tournament in the same way they usually do – losing their first two matches. They added three wins in a row after that but two more losses followed to give them just six points from their first seven games.
Throughout the next seven matches, Mumbai Indians added five victories to their name including a chase of 201 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game to grab the final IPL playoffs spot.
They then crushed the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator but were found wanting against Gujarat Titans to end their campaign at the third spot.
