The LPL T20 2024 will be the fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League. The tournament is set to begin from July 1 to July 21, 2024, and exact details about this have been updated below. B-Love Kandy won their first-ever title in the LPL when they defeated Dambulla Aura in the final to grab the tournament victory.

The 2024 Lanka Premier League will feature five teams:

• Colombo Strikers
• Dambulla Aura
• Galle Marvels
• Jaffna Kings
• B-Love Kandy.

They will compete against each other twice in the round-robin phase.

Dambulla Aura had been renamed Dambulla Thunders but that looks to be a shaky deal after the new owner Tamim Rahman was arrested for match-fixing. Galle Titans will now be called Galle Marvels.

The leading four teams will then progress to the playoff stage. The league will feature notable players including Babar Azam, Fakar Zaman, Mathew Wade, Tabraiz Shamsi, Shakib Al Hasan and David Miller among others.

LPL 2024 Schedule

The LPL 2023 tournament hosted by Sri Lanka Cricket, involved five teams playing across three international venues. The schedule for the 2024 edition of the Lanka Premier League is placed below.

Lanka Premier League Team Squads 2024

Much like the previous season, Each team is allowed to include a maximum of 6 international players.

An auction was held in May 2024 to decide on the player list for this year’s Lanka Premier League. Each of the five sides had a purse of $500,000 to spend in that auction which was hosted at the Shangri-La Colombo.

Teams were mandated to pick anywhere from 20 to 24 players of which at least six needed to be overseas players.

There were two types of players in the LPL Auction this year – capped and uncapped.

The base price for the capped player was anywhere between $10,000 and $50,000 while the three base prices for uncapped players were $20,000 (for at least 50 first-class matches played), $10,000 (for at least 25 first-class matches played or 18 matches in the LPL or any other equivalent T20 franchise league) and $5000 for the rest of the uncapped players.
