The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) started on February 13, 2024, with 6 teams competing. All the information for the 2024 edition of the PSL, or PSL 9 as it’s called, can be found below.
The six teams taking part in the tournament are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. These team will be expected to participate in PSL 2025 as well.
Lahore Qalandars had gone in as the two-time defending champions while Islamabad United, who were already the most successful team with two titles in the tournament’s history before the start of the season, won the 2024 edition.

Like in the previous seasons, the league stage will feature all six teams in a double round-robin format, with the top 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs.

This followed the National T20 Cup tournament which is often used as a feeder tournament for the Pakistan Super League squad selection. The latest PSL squad players list for all six teams is placed below with the updated version to be released sometime in December.

What Happened at the PSL 2024 Draft?
The 2024 PSL draft was held in Lahore with the National Cricket Academy playing host for it. The six PSL teams had entered the draft having retained up to eight players apiece after transfers and releases.
Five of the six teams retained all of those eight players while Multan Sultans went into the Draft with seven players retained from the previous season. 485 overseas players had put their names in the draft.
Among the overseas players, Karachi Kings got in Kieron Pollard in the Platinum Class while Rassie van der Dusen was picked up by Lahore Qalandars. Peshawar Zalmi got in Noor Ahmad while Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators selected Jordan Cox and Sherfane Rutherford respectively. Multan Sultans, who got the first pick, brought in David Willey.
The Diamond Class had three overseas picks in the form of Tymal Mills, Tim Seifert and Dawid Malan who went to Islamabad United, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans respectively.
In the Gold Category, Reeza Hendriks and Reece Topley were picked up by Multan Sultans while Naveen-ul-Haq made it to the Peshawar Zalmi side.
Matthew Ford (Islamabad United), Dan Lawrence (Lahore Qalandars) and Daniel Richard Mousley (Peshawar Zalmi) made it through the Silver category while Tom Curran, Jamie Overton, Shai Hope, Chris Jordan, Lungi Ngidi and Akeal Hosein made it through as the Supplementary selections.
Among the Pakistani cricketers who made it through the PSL 2024 Drafts, Mohammad Nawaz, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Amir were the Platinum picks for the teams.
In the Diamond category, Sahibzada Farhan and Asif Ali made it through with no Pakistani side making the squads in the Gold category.

The emerging players category had the following players who made it to the PSL squads this year: Hunain Shah, Ubaid Shah, Sirajuddin, Jahandad Khan, Syed Faridoun, Yasir Khan, Mohammad Zeeshan, Adil Naz and Khawaja Nafay.
Pakistan Super League Format for 2025 Edition
The six teams in this competition, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators will face off each other in a home and away, round-robin format.
There will be a total of 30 group games as a result of that with the top four sides on the points table at the end of that making it to the playoffs. The playoffs will consist of a Qualifier, two Eliminators and a Final.
What Happened at the 2024 PSL?
Islamabad United overcame stiff resistance from Multan Sultans in the final of the 2024 edition of the Pakistan Super League to lift their third title.
Chasing a score of 160, Islamabad clinched the win off the final ball of the tournament thanks to the cool head of Imad Wasim. Wasim had earlier grabbed a five-fer that helped Islamabad restrict Multan to a manageable score.
What Happened at the 2023 PSL?
Defending champions Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars made it two titles in a row when they overcame Multan Sultans in the final of the 2023 edition of the tournament to win the trophy.
In a pulsating final, the Qalandars scored 200 batting first on the back of a 40-ball 65 off the bat of Abdullah Shafique and a 15-ball 44 from captain Afridi. Afridi would then go on to take four wickets and restrict the Sultans to 199.
Needing 35 to win off the last two overs, Haris Rauf was taken down for 22 runs in the 19th over but Zaman Khan bowled an excellent final over to restrict them to just 11 runs.
Earlier, the Qalandars had finished atop the points table with seven wins from 10 games while Multan had six victories from their quota. Islamabad United (six wins) and Peshawar Zalmi (five wins) finished third and fourth on the points table but both were knocked out before reaching the final.
