The Assam Cricket Association Stadium (ACA Stadium) or the Barsapara Cricket Stadium as it is also called, is home to the Assam cricket team at the first-class level. It also hosts Assam for their List A and T20 matches, other than being an international venue for India and then hosting IPL matches in the 2023 edition for the first time.
One of the reasons why the Assam Cricket Association Stadium was chosen to host a few IPL games in 2023 with Rajasthan Royals as the home team for those matches, was BCCI’s attempt to spread the game to the North-Eastern region of the country.

How to get to the Assam Cricket Association Stadium
There are multiple ways to reach the Barsapara Stadium. For starters, those flying in from outside of the state of Assam, need to land at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. Depending on the time of the day, it could take anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes to reach the stadium from the airport by road.
The other way to reach the stadium is to take a train to the Guwahati Railway Station. From there onward, one can hop on to a bus or even cab it down and it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to get to your destination.
Notable Events at the ACA Stadium
The Assam Cricket Association Stadium, established in 2012, has a capacity of more than 40,000. In 2017, it hosted its first international—a T20I match between India and Australia. That year, the stadium also received its floodlights.
The first ever ODI played here was in 2018 between India and West Indies, before the Indian women’s team featured in a set of T20Is against the England women’s team in 2019.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have both hit ODI centuries at this venue while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a centurion in a T20I game against Australia in 2023 here.
This stadium replaced the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati, Assam, which had hosted 13 ODIs between 1983 and 2010. That stadium had also hosted a few football matches, but with a capacity of only 15000, a change was in the offing, and the Barsapara Cricket Stadium came into being.
