Eden Gardens is one of the most famous landmarks in the city of Kolkata and is located between B.B.D. Bagh area of the city, near the State Secretariat and across the Calcutta High Court.
In order to get to Eden Gardens during match-days, you can use various methods but make sure to get there in time because of the kind of traffic and hoards of fellow cricket fans you can expect and slow you down.
For starters if you want to get very close to the stadium without being worried about match-day traffic run, the metro is a good starting point. Both, the Chandni Chowk Metro Station and the Esplanade Metro Station are less than a km away and you can either walk to the ground or take an autorickshaw from there. Another metro station not too far is the Park Street station.
You can also hire a cab from where you are but keep in mind this will be slightly more expensive and on match-days could lead to delays due to traffic jams close to the stadium. What you could do is to book a cab till about a km away from the stadium and then walk it down from there if you can.
There is a bus-stop close to the stadium called the Eden Gardens bus-stop which is less than a km away from the Lalabazar railway station. The Lalabazar railway station is also where you can get off if you are taking a train and then take a rickshaw to Eden Gardens.
The Kolkata airport is about 25 km away from the stadium and if you are cabbing it down or driving to the Eden Gardens Stadium from there, it could take you over an hour to get there.
If you are coming from outside the city and have taken a train, there is a good possibility you will be getting off at the Howrah railway station. You can cab it from there to the Eden Gardens stadium, which is less than 5 km away.
There is another railway station where several outstation trains also stop called the Sealdah Railway Station and again, the distance is about 5 km to the stadium.
