Gujarat Titans Auction Activity for IPL 2024
It was a very interesting auction for the Gujarat Titans, who made some surprising picks at very high costs.
Their costliest player was Aussie pacer Spencer Johnson who cost them INR 10 crore but even more surprising was the selection of uncapped Robin Minz for whom they paid INR 3.6 crore. Minz is a keeper-batter from Jharkhand and that has brought invariably comparisons with MS Dhoni.
Shahrukh Khan and Umesh Yadav were the other two Indians who had a big payday, getting INR 7.40 crore and 5.80 crores respectively for this season. Shahrukh has been around on the circuit for a while now, is a strong hitter of the ball and can bowl a bit.
Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai had impressed in the 2023 World Cup and came in for INR 50 lakh but the bigger surprise was Sushant Mishra, a left-arm seamer who was sold for INR 2.20 crore.

What Happened in IPL 2023?
Gujarat Titans had come into the tournament as the defending champions and continued to play like they were in the mood to let up.
They won five of their first seven matches and another five of the next seven to finish the league stage of the tournament at the top of the points table with 20 points.
They were beaten by Chennai Super Kings in the first playoffs and then defeated the Mumbai Indians to make it to their second final in a row. Unfortunately for them, Devon Conway’s smashing half-century helped Chennai beat them again in the final.
Shubman Gill finished the tournament with 890 runs while Mohammad Shami picked up 28 wickets to end the tournament at the top of the batting and bowling charts respectively.
