IPL Teams & Players List 2025

The IPL squads for the 2025 edition of the competition have been updated at the end of the retentions in the lead-up to the mega-auction.

The auction to select the remaining IPL squads for the 2025 edition of the tournament will be held in November-December 2024 with the exact date still to be revealed. It might be hosted outside India with the venue still to be revealed and broadcast on Star Sports and live-streamed on Jio Cinema.

Information on the IPL teams and their squads for the 2025 edition will be updated after the IPL Auction. Below you can find the latest squad information from after the teams had announced their retentions.

Teams were allowed a maximum of six retentions of which a maximum of five could be capped players and two at most uncapped players.

The auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League is a mega-auction with the franchises having retained some of their players.

When will the IPL 2025 Auction be held?

The 2025 IPL Auction will be held on November 24 and 25 which clashes with the first Test match between Australia and India that will be held in Perth.

What is the venue for the IPL 2025 Auction?

The 2025 IPL Auction will be hosted at the Abady Al Johar Arena, which also goes by the name of Benchmark Arena in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This follows the previous auction which was held in Dubai.

How many players can be expected to be a part of this next IPL Auction?

About 1574 players which includes 1165 Indian cricketers have registered for the next auction by the deadline of November 4, 2024. By the time the auctions start, this list will be pruned down sizably to get to a much lower number depending on the interest shown by the teams.

All the Full Member countries except Pakistan are represented in the auction with players from Canada, Italy, USA, Scotland, Netherlands, and UAE also being a part.

Teams can pick up to 25 players for their squads including those cricketers they have already retained. They have a total purse of INR 125 crore of which some would have been already spent in retaining some of those players.

What Happened at the IPL 2024 Auctions?

The IPL 2024 auction turned out to be an excellent one for most of the 10 teams as they strengthened their squads.

Every team selected a group of outstanding and potential young talents who have performed admirably in the home circuit. The T20 carnival will be bigger and better than it has ever been. There will be more teams, players, matches, and cricket.

This season is going to be fantastic for cricket enthusiasts, especially with so many strong opening batting combinations, with teams such as Mumbai Indians (Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan/Cameron Green), Delhi Capitals (Prithvi Shaw and David Warner), Gujarat Titans (Shubman Gill and Kane Williamson), Sunrisers Hyderabad (Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal) and Lucknow Super Giants (KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock) being notable contenders.

Biggest Signings 2024

Aussie fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc became the biggest signings of the IPL ever.

While Cummins earned INR 20.5 crore as Sunrisers Hyderabad thwarted competition from some of the other sides to get them into their line-up, only a few minutes later Starc broke that record with a pay cheque of INR 24.75 crore. This time around it was Kolkata Knight Riders who had to shell out that kind of money to bring him in.

Also breaking the INR 10 crore barrier was Daryl Mitchell who was picked up by Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crore for all-round skills, while opening batter Rilee Rossouw went to Punjab Kings for a sum of INR 8 crore.

The fast bowlers continued to have a whopping day with Mumbai Indians bagging sling bowler Nuwan Thushara for INR 4.8 crore, Aussie Jhye Richardson going to Delhi Capitals for INR 5 crore and a stunning INR 10 crore going to unheralded seamer Spencer Johnson who went to Gujarat Titans.

The Titans also brought in Indian wicket-keeper batter Robin Minz for INR 3.6 crore, while Yash Dayal went to Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 5 crore.

Delhi Capitals went into a bidding war to bring the Indian keeper Kumar Kushagra in for INR 7.2 crore while Shahrukh Khan was purchased for INR 7.4 crore by the Titans.

  • Shivam Mavi (Lucknow Super Giants): 6.4 crore
  • Umesh Yadav (Gujarat Titans): 5.8 crore
  • Alzarri Joseph (Royal Challengers Bangalore): 11.8 crore
  • Chris Woakes (Punjab Kings): 4.2 crore
  • Harshal Patel (Punjab Kings): 11.75 crore
  • Rovman Powell (Rajasthan Royals): 7.4 crore
