The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur is one of the newer cricket stadiums in India that is set to host its first major match when it kick-starts the Punjab Kings campaign in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Also known as the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium in Mohali, this ground is spread over nearly 42 acres and cost about INR 250 crore to build. It was established in 2021 and has a capacity of 38,000. As opposed to that, the original cricket stadium in Mohali, the IS Bindra Stadium can seat around 27,000 cricket fans.

How to get to the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur?
The closest airport to the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium is the Chandigarh Airport from where you can hail a cab. It will take you about 45 minutes to reach the ground.
If you are taking a train to Chandigarh, you can get off at the Chandigarh Railway Station and again, book a cab. From the station, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is about half an hour away.
Notable Events at the Mullanpur Stadium
This stadium is named after the late Patiala royal Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, who also represented India in one Test against England in 1934 and made a score of 60.
The state team of Punjab also plays its domestic matches at this ground. It made its debut in the 2022-23 Ranji season when Punjab and Chandigarh faced off in a high-scoring draw while in the 2023-24 season, Railways made Punjab follow-on in another Ranji game.
Earlier in the 2021-22 season, Mullanpur had also hosted five Vijay Hazare Trophy games and a whopping 14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games the following season.
