What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
Pakistan
There has been an obvious struggle for Pakistan in recent times and if one thought they would turn things around in Test match cricket under Shan Masood, they were in for a shock.
Hosting Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, Pakistan went down 0-2 and then were stunned in the opening Test of this series as well, which made it six successive defeats in this format for them.
However, on a spin-friendly pitch in Multan in the second Test, they turned things around with a 152-run victory over their opponents.
England
England entered this series following a home summer in which they had played five Tests against West Indies and Sri Lanka and won 4-1.
Before that, they had an away series in India and while they began well with a win in the first Test, they went down 1-4 after that, progressively struggling to get the better of their opponents.
They crushed Pakistan in the first Test of this series in Multan and set a plethora of records doing so. On a spin-friendly pitch at the same venue for the second Test, England then failed to get going with the bat and suffered a 152-run defeat.
Quick Pakistan vs England 3rd Test Preview
How the tables turned. Sure, Pakistan took a risk in preparing a surface which allowed some turn very early in the match and could have easily been at the receiving end of the same but at the same time you could argue that England batted quite poorly.
And that’s been a bit of an issue for England when they have played on spin-friendly pitches, which was exploited to the hilt by the combination of Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali. They shared all the 20 wickets that fell.
With that being the case, we can expect the Multan pitch to be on the same lines as the second Test.
And that could make England think if they want to make changes to their line-up by bringing in an extra tweaker. Also, Pakistan were left with their third spinner, Zahid Mahmood doing very little bowling and the better option could be to bring in a second pacer to balance things out.
The team winning the toss could hold a big advantage in this one too but batting well in the first innings will be the key.

Pakistan vs England 3rd Test Predictions with Latest Odds*
More and more signs of the pitch for the third Test to be as spin-friendly as the previous one but it remains to be seen if it will have pace off the surface to help beat the bat or if it would be slow turn.
England might want to go in with the same balance while Pakistan could look to tweak that around, especially given they did not have much use for their leggie in the previous game.
The team winning the toss will enter the match with a huge advantage here.
