The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad is one of the biggest cricket stadiums in India from the point of view of capacity. It seats about 55,000 fans and plays host to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the Indian Premier League.
This stadium replaced the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad as the city’s main cricket ground. The Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium had hosted three Tests and 14 ODis between 1983-84 and 2003.

This stadium in Hyderabad will also be one of the 10 stadiums to host a 2023 World Cup match but the only one to not have India playing there.

Back in 2009, Sachin Tendulkar had hit an individual best of 175 at this stadium in an ODI against Australia. It was a match which India went on to narrowly lose in heart-breaking circumstances. Later in 2023, Shubham Gill would break that record with a double-century against New Zealand.
Some of the other records at this ground at the time of writing include India’s four wins and one drawn match record in Tests played at this ground – the only ground in the country in which they have played at least five matches and not lost a match.
