Quick RCB vs KKR Preview
Royal Challengers Bangalore will become the first team to play their third game this season with both them and their opponents, Kolkata looking for their second victory.
While Bangalore had gone down to Chennai Super Kings in their opener like they usually do, Virat Kohli’s sterling batting showing had helped them trump Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings in their second outing.
What stood out in that Bangalore victory was the manner in which they held Punjab down to 176/6 on a flat Bengaluru pitch and then strolled to their win.
Kohli aside, Dinesh Karthik had a good game too, making it two such performances in a row for them.
The Knight Riders held their nerve in their opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad as Harshit Rana delivered an over of a lifetime to earn them a win.
In a high-scoring game, Hyderabad looked to be on their way to a win when they scored 81 runs between the 15th and the 19th over, leaving them to score a mere 13 from the final six balls.
Harshit Rana conceded six to Heinrich Klaasen off the first ball but then conceded just two runs off the final five balls to grab the win.
What Have The Two Teams Done So Far?
Bangalore has one win from two games while Kolkata won their opener and will be playing their second game (check latest IPL 2024 points table here).
Early days so far in the tournament but Kohli is second on the run-scoring chart with a strike-rate of 142. Karthik has had a couple of unbeaten knocks and is striking them at over 180 runs per 100 balls.
Andre Russell’s unbeaten 64 had earned him the man-of-the-match award last game but more vitally he had hit that in a mere 25 balls. He will enjoy the placid Bengaluru surface.
Rana aside, Russell had also picked up a couple of wickets in the two overs he bowled.
For RCB, Yash Dayal has looked good with his left-arm seamers and that two-bouncer rule could go a long way in helping him strike at different points in the game.
