What Have The Two Teams Done So Far?
With two defeats from two matches, Sri Lanka has their work cut out as they hunt for a place in the second round. Not only do they need to win this encounter, they also need to do it by a good margin to ensure they continue to have a chance if Bangladesh slip up.
Nepal’s only match in this tournament so far came against Netherlands who defeated them by six wickets and eight balls to spare.

Twice in a row now, the Sri Lankan batting has fallen apart drastically.
While it was somewhat understandable in their opener against South Africa in New York where no batter has really gotten going, a score of 124/9 in their Dallas game against Bangladesh wasn’t quite par for the course.
Pathum Nissanka finally got going but got no support from anyone else with only Dhananjaya de Silva getting to more than 20.
Nuwan Thushara then bagged a four-fer and had Bangladesh on the mat but a narrow, nervy loss followed, leaving them with no leeway now.
Nepal haven’t been playing a lot of top-level opponents in their brief international history and that lack of experience showed up against Netherlands.
Now make no mistake, Netherlands themselves aren’t a Full Member country but they do have a lot more experience. And that meant that other than Rohit Paudel, no Nepal batter got to 20.
The bowling put up a better showing but Max O’Dowd showed what was missing for Nepal – a batter who could take the sting off the bowling at one end.
So while Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airee managed to put a bit of a dent on the opposition, Nepal will need to do a lot better here on.
