What Have The Two Teams Done So Far?
Delhi Capitals looked to have turned things around when they went into their previous game against Royal Challengers Bangalore but a pounding loss means they are now sixth on the IPL 2024 points table. Lucknow Super Giants suffered a humiliating defeat to SRH as well and have slipped to seventh but have a game in hand.

Both teams head into this game with a defeat under their belt but with differences. While Delhi’s loss was a run of a mill affair to RCB, the manner in which Lucknow went down to SRH led to a huge showdown between their owners and captain KL Rahul.
Well, showdown is a bit of a travesty for Rahul because he did most of the listening while being at the receiving end of the team owner’s ire.
What exactly had happened that led to that though?
For starters, on what looked like a perfectly flat pitch, Lucknow had scored just 165/4 in their 20 overs. Losing four wickets and not being able to get to 200 was a stunning showing.

What that has left the Super Giants with is a mountain to climb. For starters they will need to win both their remaining games against Delhi here and Mumbai and then hope for the other results to go their way in a way their net run-rate is still the best around.
Delhi have a similarly difficult task because this is their last game and the most they can get to is 14 points. Again, they need to win and win so big that they leap into positive but that looks difficult.
For all practical purposes, Delhi look to be all but out of the competition given the NRR situation. Can they prove to be party-poopers?
