What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
India and Bangladesh featured in a two-match Test series. India won it 2-0, by easing to victories in both games.
India
India are the T20 World Cup winners, having clinched the trophy earlier this year. Following that their big guns have retired from the format and the young ones featured in T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, away from home.
In the former, Zimbabwe managed to win one game before India raced away to a 4-1 victory. And then against Sri Lanka they grabbed an easy 2-0 lead before the third match was tied under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav with Sri Lanka failing to make 28 runs off the final 29 balls despite having nine wickets in hand.
In the Super Over that followed, Sri Lanka were bowled out for two and India won it off the very first ball.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh had a decent outing in the T20 World Cup and while they didn’t make it to the semifinals, they did overcome Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal in the first round. And even in their game against South Africa, it was a mere four runs that separated the two sides.
The Super Eight stage that followed proved to be too much for them to handle as they lost by 28 runs, 50 runs and eight runs respectively to Australia, India and Afghanistan respectively. That Afghanistan game was a bit of a surprise though given they had the game by the scuff of its neck at one stage.

Quick India vs Bangladesh 1st T20I Preview
Bangladesh might not have won too much against India, not in this format, but this isn’t to say that they haven’t pushed them hard.
The 2016 T20 World Cup game was one such example but even in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, India needed to hit a six off the final ball to grab the victory. And even in the 2022 T20 World Cup, India’s win was by just five runs.
More recently, when they faced off in the T20 World Cup when India played full-strength and were at their best, they emerged victorious by 50 runs.
What’s interesting to note is that India are now in a rebuilding mode when it comes to their T20I side while Bangladesh look to have build a strong core. A core that was on display during the T20 World Cup.
The good news for Bangladesh is that they would enjoy batting on these pitches, especially against a bowling attack which has a new look about them.
Where India could score over their opponents is their strong batting, and on what could be a flat-ish pitch, the likes of Suryakumar, Abhishek, Rinku and Riyan could make merry.
