Everything about the The Hundred 2025
What is the The Hundred? Much like the cricket leagues around the world, The Hundred is one in the UK but where it’s slightly different from the T20 and the T10 leagues is that it’s neither a 10-over-a-side nor a 20-over-a-side tournament.
Instead, as the name suggests, The Hundred is a 100-ball contest between two teams and the rules are tweaked accordingly. To understand the format a little more, you can find everything about The Hundred here.
The 2025 edition of The Hundred is expected to be very similar to the previous one with eight teams participating in both, the men’s and women’s competition. Both these tournaments will be held at the same time and there will be a total of 34 matches in both leagues (this could change if the ECB decides to add more rounds to the competition).
London Spirit and Oval Invincibles will kick-start The Hundred 2025 as the defending women’s and men’s champions respectively. More information on this will be released closer to the start of the tournament.

What Happened in the Previous Edition of the The Hundred?
Oval Invincibles clinched the men’s The Hundred title by finishing on the top of the points table and advancing to the final before defeating Southern Brave by 17 runs in that title-decider.
They had earlier won six of their eight games to end on 12 points in the group stages – the same as Birmingham – and finished on top thanks to a better net run-rate. Northern Superchargers tied with Southern Brave on points for the third spot but missed out because of an inferior net run-rate.
This was after the Brave had sealed off their spot in the final by overcoming Birmingham Phoenix in a five-ball Super Over following a tie.
The women’s The Hundred title was won by London Spirit who chased down the 115 made by the Welsh Fire in the final with two balls to spare. The Spirit had earlier warded off Oval Invincibles in the Eliminator, easing past them with eight wickets and nine balls to spare.
Welsh Fire had topped the points table despite being tied with Oval Invincibles having had a net run-rate of 0.334 to the latter’s 0.034. London Spirit fell two points short of that but came back well to win the title.
