What is the UP T20 League? Joining the league of multiple state leagues that have sprung up in India, the UP T20 League is another of those tournaments that is played in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
A total of six teams, representing the cities of Kanpur, Meerut, Lucknow, Noida, Gorakhpur and Kashi will participate in this year’s UP T20 League and each of these sides will play the other five on two occasions. This will make it a package of 30 matches during the league stage of the tournament before a further four matches will be played during the playoffs to decide the winner.
The top four teams on the points table at the end of the group stage of the UP T20 League will make it to the playoffs.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the UP T20 League?
Meerut Mavericks won the UP T20 League 2024 in what was its second season of the competition. Having finished the league stage of the tournament at the top of the table, they then defeated Gorakhpur Lions in the first qualifier before edging out Kanpur Superstars in the final to grab the title.
Chasing 191 for the win in the final, the Mavericks were led by the pair of Swastik Chikara and Madhav Kaushik, both of whom batted with maturity and abandon to hit dazzling fifties. It was Kaushik who finished the game with a six.
Earlier in the league, the Mavericks, who had been ably led by Rinku Singh, won eight of their 10 group games to ease through to the qualifiers. They were joined by the second-placed Gorakhpur Lions, who won six and Kanpur Superstars and Kashi Rudras who ended with five wins apiece.
What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the UP T20 League?
The first ever edition of the UP T20 League was held in 2023 which was also the previous edition of this competition and Kashi Rudras had clinched the trophy.
The Rudras defeated the Meerut Mavericks in the final, chasing down 149 in a mere 19.1 overs for the loss of only three wickets. Both Atal Bihari-Rai and Bobby Yadav grabbed three wickets for the Kashi side before captain Karan Sharma hammered a 57-ball 76 to guide their side to a win.
Sharma would also go on to claim the man-of-the-series trophy.
This was after the Meerut Mavericks had ended the competition group stage at the top of the points table.
