What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe haven’t played too many ODIs in recent times like most other countries what with the year belonging to a T20 World Cup. Over the past six matches they have gone without a win, dating back to July 2023 which includes defeats to Sri Lanka, Scotland and Ireland.
They won their opener here against Pakistan to give them an overall win-loss record of 152-398 in ODI cricket.
Zimbabwe’s victory over Pakistan was their first over a Full Member country in an ODI since June 2023 when they got the better of West Indies in a 2023 World Cup Qualifier game.
Pakistan
Pakistan are coming off a stunning performance in the ODI series against Australia, defeating them 2-1 in their own backyards on absolutely spicy pitches. Incidentally that was their first ever ODI series they had participated in since their opening round ouster at the 2023 World Cup, nearly a year ago.
However, in the first game here, they were stunned by an inspired Zimbabwean team which leaves them with a 514-440 win-loss record overall in ODI cricket.

Zimbabwe vs Pakistan 2nd ODI Preview & Predictions with Latest Odds*
Pakistan were coming into this series with a 2-1 series win in Australia and while they were missing a few of their top players, nobody had given Zimbabwe much of a chance to win the opener. One thought they might have a chance in the T20I series that will follow these ODIs but for the hosts to go 1-0 up in the ODIs is a real stunner.
The Pakistan bowlers looked to have done their job having restricted Zimbabwe to 205 after electing to field first but what followed thereafter was an indicator of how poor the Pakistani reserve strength is.
Blessing Muzarbani, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza bagged two wickets each to leave Pakistan tottering at 60/6 in 21 overs when the heavens opened. Pakistan were still a good 80 runs behind on the DLS as the game had to be called off soon after.
Earlier, Raza had been Zimbabwe’s saviour while batting as well, having made a gritty 38, adding 62 for the ninth wicket with Richard Ngarava.
We expect Pakistan to get back to their winning ways here but here’s a catch – if they lose the toss and are put into bat in a day game, things could get even tougher. Our bet is on Pakistan to win but if they are batting first to refrain from putting your bucks on them.
