What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
Australia eased to a win in the first of the three T20Is here against England which was played at The Rose Bowl in Southampton but the hosts made a sterling comeback in the second T20I. Chasing 194 for a win, they achieved the target with an over to spare.
Before the start of this series, England had struggled in the white ball format which came as a surprise after they won the 2019 edition of the World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup as well.
Their stocks plummetted quite badly after that with a shock seventh spot at the 2023 World Cup and a scrappy showing at the 2024 T20 World Cup in which they were bundled out at the semifinal stage. So much so that their coach Matthew Mott was forced to resign from the job.
In contrast, Australia won the 2023 World Cup but went down to Afghanistan and India in the 2024 T20 World Cup to crash out of the competition without reaching the last four stage.
