What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?

South Africa had entered this T20I series on the back of a torrid time against Afghanistan to whom they lost in an ODI series, 2-1. In T20I cricket, however, they had managed to make it to the final of the T20 World Cup before falling just short.

In a three-match T20I series against West Indies that followed, they were beaten 3-0, making this an important series for South Africa.

The last time that Ireland played an international was a Test match against Zimbabwe in which they won by four wickets. Before that they crashed out of the T20 World Cup with losses to India, Pakistan and Canada.
