What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
Canada
Canada, who had featured in the 1979 Cricket World Cup, have an overall ODI win-loss record of 26-67 after winning both their opening two games of this tri-series against Nepal and Oman.
Before this series though, they had lost all of their previous four matches and in 2024, they are 6-7 on the win-loss record in ODI cricket.
They have 12 points from 10 games on the WCL 2 2024 points table, giving them the second spot on it.
Nepal
Nepal have played in 68 ODIs in their history and have a win-loss record of 34-32. Of course, most of their wins have come against the non Full Member sides. In 2024, Nepal have won four of the nine matches they have featured in, all of which came at home.
This includes two successive defeats in this tri-series, losing to Canada and Oman.
On the WCL 2 2024 points table they have currently just gotten off the mark with two points from sux games with their only win having come in a shock result against Netherlands. They are on the seventh spot, just ahead of UAE on NRR.
Quick Canada v Nepal 4th ODI Preview
Canada are on a bit of a roll in this portion of the tri-series and have won back to back matches to prop up their chances. They started with a 103-run rout of Nepal in the first leg of this tri-series before clinching a 59-run victory over Oman as well.
A lot of the credit around those two wins should go to the way in which Canada has batted.
There was a concerted effort in their opener to help them get to 253/8 and then Harsh Thaker hit 93 to propel them to 276/8 in the second match. The bowling, with the buffer of those runs, has then completed the job.
Nepal, on the other hand, have had a struggle in this entire competition – not just this tri-series. They have just one win from six matches and again, their batting hasn’t delivered.
After conceding 253 to Canada, none of their batters passed 27 in their chase. And then against Oman, they managed to put up a mere 220/9 despite captain Rohit Paudel’s 60.
They will need to come out all guns blazing in this encounter to have a chance at running the hosts close.
Canada v Nepal Head-to-Head Stats
