What Have The Two Teams Done So Far?
Unfortunately for England, they are yet to get off the mark with a win having had their opener against Scotland abandoned due to rain and then having lost to Australia.
That has left them needing to win both their remaining matches including this one against Oman.
Oman are already eliminated from the tournament, having lost all three – to Australia, Namibia and Scotland. They did put up a bit of a fight against Namibia, taking them to a Super Over but that was about as close as they got.

Losing to your arch-rivals is bad enough but to lose in the manner they did and after having conceded a few runs in their rained off game against Scotland made it worse.
Tactically, captain Jos Buttler’s game looked off and while they responded to the chase of 202 rather well to begin with, they went behind in the second half of that.
The ball got softer, run-scoring became difficult and England made just 73 runs in their final 62 balls.
Oman’s troubles have been manifold but the biggest issue for them is that their batting and bowling hasn’t clicked in the same game. The lack of experience to get 40 overs of good cricket under their belt has cost them dear.
What’s made it worse for Oman is that while they managed to tie the game against Namibia, and then put up some batting fight down the order against Australia they were completely annihilated by Scotland.
They scored 150/7 batting first before Scotland smashed the target in a mere 13.1 overs. In fact it was the nature of that win for Scotland that has made qualification that much more difficult for England that they are now left with no option but to do something similar to Oman.
