What is the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League? It’s an ODI tournament organised by the ICC as a means to qualify for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
This competition is held over a period of two years between 2024 and 2026 and is the second time it’s been held.
Teams are split into two groups of six each and every team faces off against each of the other five teams in their league on three occasions each.
The top two teams at the end of this league phase of the competition then go through to qualify for the next tournament in the sequence of World Cup qualifiers by the name of the ICC World Cup Qualifier Play-Off.
Teams finishing third and fourth in their respective groups could feature in the next edition of the CWC Challenge League.

What Happened in the Previous Edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League?
Canada and Jersey topped their respective groups and qualified for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff. Of these two teams, Canada finished fourth in that competition to advance to the 2023-2027 Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament while Jersey ended fifth in that tournament to return to the Challenge League 2024-26.
It was an impressive performance from Canada who lost only one of the 15 matches they played in the entire tournament to end on 27 points, ahead of Denmark and Qatar with 17.
