What Have The Two Teams Done Recently?
India Women
India are 104-82 on win-loss in T20I cricket which is a win-loss ratio of 1.27. While it’s not quite the best in the business, they have also won 12 of their last 17 matches which is a clear indicator they are a team on the rise.
More recently, they featured in the Women’s Asia Cup in which they won four matches in a row to make the final where they were stunned by the Sri Lanka Women.
That being said, they are already on the back-foot, having lost their opener to New Zealand Women by a whopping 58-run margin, leaving them with three must-win games.
Pakistan Women
Pakistan entered this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup on the back of a semifinal defeat in the Women’s Asia Cup to Sri Lanka and a 1-2 home loss in a three-match series against South Africa Women.
They weren’t quite the favourites heading into their opener against Sri Lanka and yet, turned things on its head to grab the win and give themselves an outside hope.
Overall, Pakistan are 70-98 on win-loss in their career, while in 2024 they have won just five of their 16 T20Is.

Quick India vs Pakistan Women’s T20 World Preview
India Women enter this game knowing they cannot afford any more slip-ups. They were the favourites going into their opener against New Zealand but were slammed so badly that not only do they need to improve quickly, but also win big.
That’s because even with all the permutations involved, and even if they win their remaining three matches – including one against Australia Women – it could come down to the net run-rate. And India’s 58-run loss to the Kiwis means their NRR has gone for a toss.
And that’s the pressure they will be facing entering this game against their arch-rivals Pakistan.
Pakistan, on the other hand, would be cock-a-hoop. They stunned the Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka Women and have given themselves an outside chance of a surprise semifinal qualification.
They have captain Fatima Sana to thank for that opening win. Sana first made a difference of at least 20 runs to her side’s score and then bagged figures of 2/10 to restrict Sri Lanka Women to 85/9.
Can someone else also stand up though against a much tougher Indian side?
All Eyes On
India Women need a better showing from their batters led by their openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana after getting bowled out for a sub-110 score in their opener. Pakistan will look at captain and talisman player Fatima Sana to lead them out of trouble yet again.
